HMS Victory Teak Fountain pen - Black titanium

HMS Victory pen

Stunning Fountain pen handmade in Teak salvaged from HMS Victory during restoration work. Victory was Nelson's flagship in the famous battle Trafalgar in 1805. HMS Victory dates back to 1759 when her keel was laid, she was finally commissioned in 1778.

The pen fittings are finished with Black Titanium and black chrome accents. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood have quite the same grain pattern.

Features a quality medium German made nib. The pen is approximately 130mm long and 15mm at the widest part including the cap. The pen is non-postable (i.e., the cap cannot be mounted on the reverse end while in use). The pen makes use of standard international cartridges but is also supplied with an ink convertor to allow the use of bottled inks.

Over the many years since HMS Victory was completed in 1765 she has undergone
many repairs and restoration work. It is understood that less than twenty percent of the ship is still original from when she was launched.

The Burmese Teak used to make this pen would have been used during these repairs or restoration work. As more knowledge & the availability of woods more resistant to rot and infestations of wood eating beetles, the woods in the works changed to include these woods.

This is a beautiful quality handmade pen. The comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.

The pen makes use of standard Parker type refills, a quality black one is installed in the pen ready to use.

 The pen will be shipped in the card case as pictured displaying the certificate of authenticity giving details of the wood.

All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
