HMS Terrible Teak pen
Ballpoint pen handmade in Teak from HMS Terrible. Launched May 1895 HMS Terrible served the Royal Navy in the China station. She went on to take part in the siege and relief of Ladysmith in the second Boer War in South Africa. She was finally broken for scrap in 1932.
This is a beautiful pen with the teak complemented by Gunmetal and chrome coloured fittings The comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.
The wood to make the pen was obtained from a bookend made originally when the ship was broken up in late 1932. A lot of the wood from broken ships was used to make souvenirs.
The pen accepts standard Parker® style refills allowing maximum choice of ink types. A quality refill in black ink is fitted for you.
The pen will be shipped in the recyclable card case as pictured. Along with a small certificate giving details of the wood. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood are quite the same.
All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
