HMS Britannia Teak pen

Ballpoint pen handmade in Teak from HMS Britannia, former training ship moored at Dartmouth from 1869 until towed away and broken up in 1916.

This is a beautiful pen with the teak complemented by Gunmetal coloured fittings. The pen makes use of a rifle styled Lock n Load clip to extend and retract the ink refill. The comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.

The wood to make the pen was obtained from a book stand made originally when the ship was broken up in 1916. A lot of the wood from broken ships was used to make souvenirs. I have so far seen Ink wells Desk pen stands, tables and book cases made with the wood from HMS Britannia and also a number of other ships broken around the same time.

The pen accepts small standard Parker® style refills allowing maximum choice of ink types. A refill in black ink is fitted for you.

The pen will be shipped in the recyclable card case as pictured. Along with a small certificate giving details of the wood. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood are quite the same.

All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
