Railway carriage GWR 169 Oak
Quality handmade wooden ballpoint twist pen handmade in Oak removed during restoration of Auto-trailer GWR No 169. The wood is complemented by Antique Rose Copper coloured fittings.
GWR 169 was one of twelve new Auto-Trailers ordered by Great Western Railway in 1928 (Lot 1394 to Diagram A27). 169 was delivered in 1929, it spent a lot of its working life around the Cardiff valleys.
This is a beautiful handmade quality pen, the comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.
The pen accepts standard "cross" type refills which are widely available. It will be shipped in the case pictured, along with a small certificate giving details of the wood.
Each pen will vary slightly from the one pictured. As wood is a natural product no two are exactly the same.
All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
