Railway pen - ballpoint pen in Oak taken from GWR 169 rail carriage
Railway carriage GWR 169 Oak
Quality handmade wooden ballpoint twist pen handmade in Oak from a floor support removed during restoration of Auto-trailer GWR No 169. The wood is complemented by Antique Rose Copper coloured fittings.
GWR 169 was one of twelve new Auto-Trailers ordered by Great Western Railway in 1928 (Lot 1394 to Diagram A27). 169 was delivered in 1929, it spent a lot of its working life around the Cardiff valleys.
This is a beautiful handmade quality pen, the comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.
The pen accepts standard "cross" type refills which are widely available. It will be shipped in the case pictured, along with a small certificate giving details of the wood.
Each pen will vary slightly from the one pictured. As wood is a natural product no two are exactly the same. Please allow up to 7 working days for dispatch following your order being placed.
All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
