Spalted Beech twist pen
Quality wooden ballpoint pen handmade in spalted beech grown at Cotehele house Cornwall. The pen features gun metal coloured fittings which perfectly contrast with the wood.
Cotehele was the ancestral home to the Edgcumbe family for centuries. The Tudor house, is perched high above the River Tamar in the Parish of Calstock in the East of Cornwall. The house is one of the least altered Tudor houses in the UK.
This is a beautiful handmade quality pen, the comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood are quite the same.
The pen accepts standard cross® type C1 refills which are widely available. It will be shipped in the recyclable card case pictured, along with a small certificate giving details of the wood. The pen has the slightly thicker centre than the other slimmer versions. The pen is around 130mm long and around 10mm at its widest.
All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
