HMS Hermes (R12) Keyring

Stunning Keyring handmade in Teak removed from HMS Hermes during the dismantling work being carried out in India. HMS Hermes was in service with the Royal Navy from 1959 to 1984. Famously serving as the flagship during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

She was decommissioned in 1984 and sold to be used by the Indian Navy in 1986.  She was renamed to INS Viraat and served until 2017. Following a number of failed attempts to save the ship, dismantling started in the Autumn of 2021.

Each keyring will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood have quite the same grain pattern. The size is around 60mm x 15mm. Please note that most of the keyrings will have at least one very small hole in the wood. This is where the fixing nails went through the wood on the gratings. The hole can be seen in the photo shown.
