Handmade ballpoint twist pen in Yew from Max Gate, former home of Thomas Hardy.
This is a beautiful handmade quality pen. The comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.
This handmade pen is made from a stunning piece of Yew wood with gunmetal coloured metal fittings.
Features a quality cross® type refill and is approximately 130mm long and 11mm at the widest part when capped. Each pen will vary as no two pieces of wood are quite the same. The pen photographed is not the one you will receive.
The pen accepts standard CrossR style C1 refills which a wide range are available. It will be shipped in the fully recyclable presentation box pictured. Also included will be a small slip giving details of the wood.
All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
The wood for the pens was is collected as logs by myself from the property. Cut to planks then stored in a controlled environment to season for at least twelve months. It is then cut again to a suitable size to make pens from.
