Thomas Hardy's fountain pen

This is a quality handmade wooden fountain pen dressed in spalted Ash which grew at Thomas Hardy's cottage in Dorset. The Ash is paired with gun metal coloured fittings and is postable (the cap can be attached to the end while in use).

Thomas Hardy's Cottage, in Higher Bockhampton, Dorset, is a cob and thatch building that is the birthplace of Thomas Hardy. He was born there in 1840 and lived in the cottage until he was aged 34—during which time he wrote the novels Under the Greenwood Tree (1872) and Far from the Madding Crowd (1874).

The comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood. Each pen will vary as no two pieces of wood are quite the same.

Featuring a Size 5 medium nib, the pen measures approximately 140mm long and 15mm at the widest part when capped.  The pen accepts small 'International' ink cartridges (one included), or a refillable ink convertor also included. It will be shipped in the environmentally friendly card  case as pictured. A small certificate is included giving details of the wood.

All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
