Dartmoor pen

Quality handmade wooden ballpoint twist pen handmade in Leyland Cypress(Cupressus x leylandii). The pen features gun metal coloured fittings which perfectly compliment the wood.

This is a beautiful handmade quality pen, the comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood are quite the same.

The wood featured in this pen Leyland Cypress grown in the church yard of St Mary's church Walkhampton. The tree's were planted to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. They were felled in late 2018 as they were beginning to cause damage to the boundary retaining walls they had been planted next too.

The Leyland Cypress is a hybrid between Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) and Alaskan Yellow Cedar (Cupressus nootkatensis).

The pen accepts standard cross® type refills which are widely available. It will be shipped in the recyclable card case pictured, along with a small certificate giving details of the wood. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood are quite the same.

All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
