Victory was Nelson's flagship in the famous battle Trafalgar in 1805. HMS Victory dates back to 1759 when her keel was laid, she was finally commissioned in 1778.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pen is finished with Brushed Pewter coloured fittings. Each pen will vary slightly as no two pieces of wood have quite the same grain pattern.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver the many years since HMS Victory was completed in 1765 she has undergone\u003cbr\u003emany repairs and restoration work. It is understood that less than twenty percent of the ship is still original from when she was launched.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eQuoted from The National Museum of the Royal Navy \u003cbr\u003e•   “for the first thirteen years of the HMS Victory's existence she was in reserve.\u003cbr\u003eDuring this time approximately one third of the ship was replaced due to decay”\u003cbr\u003e•   “Since 1765 the ship has gone through five major repairs; she had been almost completely rebuilt by the time of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Burmese Teak used to make this pen would have been used during these repairs or restoration work. As more knowledge \u0026amp; the availability of woods more resistant to rot and infestations of wood eating beetles, the woods in the works changed to include these woods.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a beautiful quality handmade pen. The comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pen makes use of standard Parker type refills, a quality black one is installed in the pen ready to use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e The pen will be shipped in the card case as pictured. Along with a certificate of authenticity giving details of the wood.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish.
