HMS Warrior pen

The wood in this pen was removed from HMS Warriors decks during work to replace the Pine with Teak around 2004. The wood in the pen is Pitch pine with gun metal and chrome coloured metal fittings. Each pen will vary slightly from the one pictured, as the grain pattern in any two pieces of wood are not quite the same.

HMS Warrior is a 40 gun steam powered armoured frigate, Built for the Royal Navy and commissioned in 1861. Warrior is the name ship of the Warrior-class Ironclads. She was placed in reserve in 1875 and finally decommissioned in 1883. She subsequently served as a store ship and depot ship, and in 1904 was assigned to the Royal Navy's torpedo training school. The ship was converted into an oil jetty in 1927 and remained in that role until 1979, at which point she was donated by the Navy to the Maritime Trust for restoration. The restoration process took eight years, during which many of her features and fittings were either restored or recreated. When this was finished she returned to Portsmouth as a museum ship. Listed as part of the National Historic Fleet, Warrior has been based in Portsmouth since 1987.

The pen is equipped with a quality Parker® type refill. It will be shipped in the recyclable card case pictured along with a small gift certificate giving details of the wood.

All pens are handmade by me beginning with rough cut woods for the body. The body of the pen is turned on a lathe to the final shape as seen on each pen. The body is then sanded, sealed, waxed and polished to its final finish. Assembly is completed by using pre-made high quality pen components for long lasting performance.
